Tonight, at the SBW Stables Theatre, the 2008 Griffin Award was awarded to playwright Rick Viede for Whore“a poetic and explosive exploration of desire, capitalism and the body”.

Griffin Theatre Company has released the judges’ shortlist of eight plays in the running for the 2008 Griffin Award - the prestigious annual prize offered for an outstanding new, unproduced Australian play or performance text.

Riflemind by Sydney Theatre Company Co-Artistic Director Andrew Upton, and directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, will open at the Trafalgar Studios in London's West End in September.
