Inaugural Musica Viva Festival

Musica Viva is proud to announce the inaugural Musica Viva Festival featuring five jam-packed days of cultural vibrancy, exceptional performers and fantastic music.  With more than 50 events to choose from including Family Concerts, Lunchtime performances, Masterclasses and late night concerts, both devotees and discoverers of chamber music alike will be delighted.  Re-discover some of Sydney’s finest venues including St James’ Anglican Church, Justice & Police Museum, the Barnet Long Room, Customs House and City Recital Hall Angel Place.

The opening concert on 8 October 2008 at City Recital Hall Angel Place, will be a celebration to remember as Musica Viva teams-up with ABC Classic FM to present The Classic 100 Chamber Music Concert.

Every year ABC Classic FM conducts a national survey inviting listeners to vote for their favourite piece of music in a specific category and 2008 is the year of chamber music! As the on-air countdown nears completion, ABC Classic FM will cut to The Classic 100 Chamber Music Concert, a live broadcast performance where the Juilliard String Quartet and others reveal the five most popular works. As the opening concert of the Music Viva Festival, this event is hugely popular and a wonderful culmination in the search for Australia’s most-loved chamber music.

Viva Gold, Viva Silver, Viva Weekend and Viva Choices ticket packages are now on sale with package prices ranging from $252 to the all-inclusive Viva Gold Festival Pass covering all events and interval drinks for $799. Single tickets, also available now, range in price from $10.00 to $85.00. Viva Choices ticket packages gives people the option to buy tickets for as few as three events and receive a 10% discount.
