Ewen Lesley’s Richard is powerful and compelling, so ruinously evil and forcefully seductive that you just want to shag him out of sheer gratitude.

Black clothes? Check. Black guitar? Check. Uncomplicated melodies, distinctive vocal, rock star swagger? Check, check and check. Why, oh why then, is it so hard to emulate Johnny Cash?

Director and choreographer Kelley Abbey has done well to play to unique strengths. Overall, the best singers stand out as individuals while the dancers are strong as a collective ensemble unit.
