
The human animal may have changed its society a thousand times between 44BC and 2011, but it has not changed its nature. Some things are universal. There will always, always be politicians.

These two programs both resonated deeply for me – almost beyond the individual pieces of theatre that made them up. These programs gave a forum to, and showcased some truly awesome voices in theatre.

The Dark Side of Midnight is a very engaging play. The way its domestic conflict is surrounded and punctuated by political turmoil is truly inspired, as is the way it doesn't use politics as a substitute for plot and character.

I suspect this may be the first time I've seen a New Zealand play on an Australian stage. It's a novel irony to hear actors we know to be Australian making disparaging remarks about Australia in a New Zealand accent! In all, Roger Hall's play was a joy to see.

A beautiful escape from reality, Aviary was a journey through the stunning landscape of avian life.

It has been quite a while since I have seen a play that I have discussed so widely and thought about so deeply.
