Barber shops, like ladies’ hairdressers, are traditionally seen as repositories of confidential and often controversial opinions. History, race, colour, bigotry, politics and sex – nothing is taboo in this sanctuary.

Ali Bodycoat was in perfect form last evening at the Ellington Jazz Club. Her tribute to Barbra Streisand could not have been lovelier. With her exquisite phrasing and crisp enunciation she was absolutely terrific paying tribute to the divine diva.
