Christian brings significant experience as a freelance director, most notably in generating new theatrical form and new styles of artistic collaboration. He is a cofounder of Melbourne independent theatre company Uncle Semolina(& friends). His award-winning works have been programmed in major Australian festivals and venues, and internationally in the United Kingdom, China, Japan and USA. Christian studied directing at the Victorian College of the Arts and playwriting at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the USA.
In addition to his independent achievements Christian has been Arena's Artistic Associate from 2009 to present, directing works such as the world premiere of Lally Katz's Starchaser, schools residency project The Exile Project and remount seasons of Missing Link and Mr Freezy. Christian begins his new role on 5th November 2012, following the world premiere of Arena's The House of Dreaming at the Melbourne Festival.
