Young Victorians from around the state have the opportunity to access free event management training as part of The Push’s annual 2010 Push FReeZA Summits in Wangaratta, Torquay and Brunswick, June 29 - July 2.

Melbourne band City Escape and hip hop artist Briggs will be tackling the popular artist development session “From The Horse’s Mouth”. City Escape released their debut EP, Avalanches, in 2009 and have toured with the likes of The Secret Handshake and House vs Hurricane whilst headlining their own successful shows. Indigenous hip hop artist Briggs is the first signing to Hilltop Hoods label Golden Era. Both artists will offer advice on developing a career in the music industry. Additionally City Escape will be playing a special lunchtime acoustic set, and Briggs will be staging an MC Workshop, offering insights into the art of lyric writing, rhyme technique, syllable structure and the origins of hip hop.

They will be joined by special guests: Wangaratta Jazz, Festival Director, Kay Richardson (Wangaratta event only), Apollo Bay Music Festival, Director, Caroline Moore (Torquay only) and Soundwave Festival & Touring, General Manager, Chris O’Brien (Brunswick only).

The day will feature sessions on volunteering at festivals, setting up a PA, an explanation of all job roles involved in running an event, setting up sponsorship partnerships and much more.

There will also be an opportunity to network with local FReeZA Committees from Moyne / Warrnambool, Colac, Torquay / Surf Coast, Wodonga, Wyndham / Werribee, Mornington Peninsula, Mansfield and many more from across Melbourne and the state, to get involved in your local community’s youth arts activities or have your say on what should be happening.

Young people interested in getting involved in their community’s music, arts, entertainment and cultural activities are encouraged to attend!
