This year Melbourne Fringe is opening Expressions of Interest for the Fringe Hub venues earlier and for longer. "It's all about making more time to meet with artists, to discuss their ideas, find solutions to problems and ending up with the best possible mix of shows" says Beau McCafferty, Independent Program Producer.

The Fringe Hub in North Melbourne reflects the diversity, quality and innovation that the Melbourne Fringe Festival is renowned for.  Made up of 9 or more performance spaces within a short walk of each other, the Fringe Hub provides artists and producers with a high profile, supportive and busy venue for the duration of their Melbourne Fringe Festival show.

Last year's Melbourne Fringe included 289 shows or events, over 4000 artists and well over half a million audience members.

The Melbourne Fringe Festival is unique in that almost 90% of the work presented is by Melbourne based artists. Our shows are home grown and reflect the incredible talent and complexity of Melbourne's independent arts scene.

With so many of last year's Melbourne Fringe shows touring to Adelaide, making plans to tour further afield or being presented right now in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, it's clear that the Melbourne Fringe Festival is where the next collection of entertaining, innovative, clever work debuts.

"Melbourne Fringe offers so much more than just a presentation opportunity" says Emily Sexton, Creative Producer. "Our team are here to help with advice, forums, mentoring and resources.  Even if you don't have all the nuts and bolts of your application worked out, it's still worthwhile chatting to us about your ideas."

The 2009 Melbourne Fringe Festival will run from 23 September to 11 October 2009.

Fringe Hub Expressions of Interest will be accepted from 6 April - 8 May 2009.

Not interested in the Fringe Hub but still keen to take part?  General artist registrations will be open 25 May - 12 June 2009.
