Multi Grammy-awarded jazz, soul and R & B legend, Roberta Flack and her band, have interrupted their Australian tour to perform a benefit concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, for the Victorian Bushfire Relief Appeal.

Ms Flack said: "I was devastated to hear of the desperate plight faced by so many people.  I wanted to do something for those affected by these tragic fires and we approached the MSO with the idea.”

Roberta along with her band, the MSO and Bluehawk Presents are donating their services.

MSO Managing Director Trevor Green said "This tragedy has touched everyone. The MSO has enjoyed a century of wonderful support from the Victorian community and now in this hour of need, we would like to play a small part in the healing process.

Roberta kicked off her Australian tour in Melbourne at the height of the heatwave and we are delighted to be performing with her again.”

Ms Flack has received rave reviews on her sold out Australian tour and this benefit concert is the only opportunity to purchase tickets before she departs for New Zealand.

We would like to acknowledge the Arts Centre, Hamer Hall, The Langham Hotel Melbourne, Medina Serviced Apartments, Perth Sheraton Hotel and Windsor Chauffeur Drive for their support with this event.

Tickets for Roberta Flack and the MSO’s Victorian Bushfire Relief Appeal Concert are on-sale now through Ticketmaster on 1300 136 166 or www.mso.com.au
