Twenty seven outstanding new Australian playscripts appear on CD ROM in the Australian Script Centre’s seventh biennial Collection to be released on 1 December 2008.

The Collection is an impressive sampler of award-winning, popular and critically acclaimed works from the ASC’s 2007-2008 program. Highlights include;
-    Australian Gothic, Mary Rachel Brown’s multi-award winning seditious black comedy for young adults;
-    Do Not Go Gentle by Patricia Cornelius, winner of the 2006 Patrick White Playwrights Award;
-    Colder, Lachlan Philpott’s unsettling drama about a missing child; and
-    Mrs Petrov’s Shoe by Noelle Janaczewska, winner of the 2006 Queensland Premier’s Award for Best Drama.

Collection 7 demonstrates beyond doubt that Australian writing for performance is in excellent shape.

We want theatre companies, amateur groups, drama educators and theatre buffs to know that everything they might look for in a playscript can be found right here in Australia. This Collection introduces some of the best from the past two years. It’s a window into the vast cultural treasure trove that is the ASC’s catalogue.

Gail Cork, Director – Australian Script Centre

The Australian Script Centre has been selectively collecting, promoting and selling the work of Australian playwrights since 1979.  Its full catalogue of more than 1500 works can be viewed at www.ozscript.org . In 2009, the ASC celebrates two significant milestones, namely its 30th anniversary and its achievement of key organisation status with the Australia Council’s Theatre Board, an achievement accompanied by triennial funding for the first time in the Centre’s history. The Centre’s current priority is the digitisation of its entire catalogue and a bold move into the online marketplace.
