La Boite Theatre Company is proud to announce Queensland Gas Company as the exclusive Major Partner of the Company until the end of La Boite Theatre Company's 2009 season.
Artistic Director and CEO of La Boite Theatre Company, Sean Mee, said: “This major partnership is the first of such significance in La Boite’s 83-year history. It provides financial support to ensure that La Boite can continue to focus on its QGC Managing Director Richard Cottee said that the partnership marked a milestone in the company’s efforts to contribute to the social life of communities in the Surat Basin. “When QGC wanted to contribute, to give something back to its community, it was natural that we go to a company that enriches people’s lives,” he said. “La Boite has traditionally seen itself as having a responsibility to Queensland as a whole – from the rolling surf to the Outback and right up into the tropics. Both QGC and La Boite are as Queensland as the setting sun and share a common pride in their provenance in this state and a pioneering spirit.”primary purpose of developing and presenting Australian theatre of quality and currency. The agreement also gives an early boost to plans for next year’s Drama at the Gasfields, sure to be a continuing, outstanding success.“
The relationship built between the two companies follows two successful years of Drama at the Gasfields at Windibri near Chinchilla, a festival of country drama and activities for the local surrounding communities at the heart of the QGC’s coal seam gas resources. The triumph of the initial event saw La Boite and QGC win the 2006 AbaF (Australia Business Arts Foundation) award in the Toyota Communities category. Eager to prove that this was not a one-off event, the second Drama at the Gasfields in March this year cemented the community acceptance of the event, with attendance numbers up by 160%.
This mutually beneficial arrangement provides La Boite with a cash sponsorship commitment, while providing QGC with a range of corporate entertainment packages, venue hire and promotional opportunities. Both companies benefit from the ongoing Drama at the Gasfields events.
