General Manager of The Age Melbourne Fringe Festival, David Gerrand, is excited to announce the appointment of Emily Sexton as Creative Producer for the 2008 festival.
Emily has recently worked in Cultural Development in Frankston, managing outdoor arts programs as well as initiating a number of arts projects including "Ventana Latina", a Latin Fiesta, and developing youth programs involving Hip Hop artists Diafrix.
In 2007 she co-produced 'Lulu vs Jack the Ripper' with boutique theatre company KumQuat Theatre, produced three works for independent company Theatre@Risk, and also conducted ongoing work with Sydney-based script development company Inscription.
Emily has worked on projects in a number of festivals in Melbourne and Sydney, including the Next Wave Festival, High Vibes, Melbourne International Arts Festival and New Mardi Gras Arts Festival, as well as running a number of major festivals and events for Sydney University. She is currently in rehearsal for Gabrielle de Vietri's NEW08 work at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.
"I am very excited about working with Melbourne Fringe. The Fringe is a beacon for independent artists across Melbourne, showcasing some of the country's most interesting work, whilst also providing a forum for artists to meet others working in their field and inspire new projects. I am looking forward to working with others to create explosive, challenging, sexy, interesting works that capture imaginations and set ideas adrift" she said.
