Short+Sweet’s successful regional festival returns for its second year by popular demand… and the search for great new scripts is on!

Short+Sweet Regional - Central Coast is a one-week program of ten short plays to be held at the Peninsula Theatre, Woy Woy, from Wed 23th to Sat 26th July 2008.

Would-be Williamsons and hopeful Hares can dust off old scripts from bottom drawers or seek new inspiration for fresh work. The only requirement is that the play must run no longer than 10 minutes.

This is the second local season of the Short+Sweet short play festival which has electrified audiences in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore (with more international locations to be announced shortly!).

Last year’s Central Coast festival was a huge success with sell-out audiences cheering the work of local writers, actors and directors.

The festival is open to writers who are current or past residents of the Central Coast. There is no entry fee, and – among other prizes on offer - the best play of the season wins a spot in the Short+Sweet Sydney festival in 2009.

Festival Director for Short+Sweet Regional - Central Coast is local writer and performer (and winner of Short+Sweet Best Director 2007) Brenda Logan.

“As in 2007, we anticipate a brilliant mix of comedy, romance, thrillers… and the simply wacky!” says Brenda. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase the talent of the region and a terrific networking opportunity for artists.”

A writers’ workshop and directors’ information night will be held in March. Script entries and expressions of interest for directors and actors close 30 April. Auditions will be held in mid May
