Victorian Opera’s Sing Your Own Opera returns by popular demand at 2:30pm-8pm Saturday, March 29 at BMW Edge at Federation Square in Melbourne.

Sing Your Own Opera brings together aspiring bathroom baritones, secret sopranos and anyone else who has ever harboured a desire to sing opera.

Participants can realise their dream of becoming an opera star by spending an afternoon with Victorian Opera Music Director Richard Gill and Head of Music David McSkimming to explore Mozart’s immortal masterpiece, The Marriage of Figaro.

Victorian Opera artists Michelle Buscemi and Samuel Dundas will be on hand to show everyone how it is done.

From 2:30pm to 5pm, singers will warm up and then rehearse their parts in groups and en masse, returning at 6pm for their big moment, the performance!

Last year 400 aspiring opera singers raised the roof on the Melbourne Town Hall and strong advance bookings indicate that The Marriage of Figaro will be equally popular.

Music will be provided but an ability to read it is not essential.

Scores will also be available for collection from Horti Hall, 31 Victoria Street, Melbourne from 11am–4pm March 12, 13 and 14 for those wanting to get their vocal chords into shape ahead of the big event.
