acoThe Australian Chamber Orchestra’s international tours will be managed by IMG Artists across the globe commencing in 2010, it was announced this week. The ACO is a designated international touring company by the Australia Council’s Major Performing Arts Group, and has toured outside of Australia thirty times in its 31 year history. Overseas touring is essential to the Orchestra’s artistic vitality, strategic planning, and government funding.

IMG Artists, with offices worldwide in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, represents a stunning roster of the finest musicians, dance companies, and orchestras, as well as operating and developing major arts festivals, attractions and special arts projects. Conductor/Composer John Adams, sopranos Dawn Upshaw and Renée Fleming, violinist Joshua Bell, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the London Philharmonic Orchestra reflect just a small sample of the quality of IMG Artists’ artistic roster, which is considered one of the best in the world.

Richard Tognetti, Artistic Director & Lead Violin, and Bill Gillespie, General Manager of the ACO are both delighted with the new representation, which will commence with a 2010 trans-Atlantic tour to northern summer festivals in both North America and Europe.

In London, IMG’s Senior Vice President and Global Director of the Orchestra Tours Division, Mr Harold Clarkson, said “The spirit and quality of the ACO, under the superb and versatile violinist Richard Tognetti, is respected and recognised internationally, and IMG Artists very much looks forward to developing a great long term relationship with the ACO.”
