Two events coming up at Riverside will give kids the chance to either show how funny they are or show off their artistic skills. The annual CLASS CLOWNS COMEDY COMPETITION and SCHOOLS CARTOON and CARICATURE COMPETITION celebrate the creativity and talents of students.
 
The annual CLASS CLOWNS COMEDY 2008 Competition is a great opportunity for bright young students to share their wit and comedic skills with others. Big Laugh Comedy Attractions have opened registrations for students from years 9 to 12 to display their skills for performing comedy through group skit work, stand up or physical comedy. Entries close on February 28th.
 
The Riverside state-wide winner will compete in the national Class Clowns Competition in Melbourne.
 
SCHOOLS CARTOON & CARICATURE COMPETITION calls on all young artists of cartoons, caricatures and comic strips to enter their work for a chance to win great cash prizes for themselves and their schools. Entries must be hand drawn, painted or computer assisted, mounted on black cardboard, A4 size including mounting and, of course, funny!  In 2007 the competition was so large it outgrew the walls in the foyers of Riverside Theatres and became an online exhibition as well. In 2008 Riverside will again exhibit online and introduce a new People’s Choice Award, voted online by schools. Entries must be received by March 3. Winners will win cash and prizes for their school.
