Fresh FM and Fringe Benefits are holding a statewide search for the future sound of tomorrow.
Now in its second year, the aim is to uncover the freshest local talent by giving DJs and producers the chance to score the set-of-a-lifetime, playing live at the massive 2008 Adelaide Fringe Opening Night Party. Finalists will battle it out in front of the public on Friday January 11, 2008 at Sugar.
The lucky winner will join a stellar lineup onstage spinning their tunes to over 40,000 people at the event now firmly established as the party of the year in Adelaide.
Last year’s winners Track Team say that winning Spin changed their careers. “We were given the opportunity to play a huge set at the Fringe Opening Party, playing on a killer stage in front of thousands of people. That gig alone, in terms of stage size / structure and crowd size, blows any other gig out the water! Winning the competition and the promotional work from Spin campaign has pushed our profile much greater into the club scene. We have loved the fact we are working as much as we can fit into the calendar and no longer need to chase gigs, instead people are calling us.”
The competition is open to all ages with no minimum level of experience. DJs are encouraged to enhance their performance by adding new and unique elements.
Eligible entrants must be from the following 4 categories:
• Live collaboration (ie, live vocals, live band, live MC, live instrument added to DJ performance)
• DJs only
• Technology-based (ie, decks and FX, VJing)
• DJ Collaboration (ie, 2 DJs playing back-to-back)
Competition opens Thursday November 1, 2007.
Entrants must download and complete a registration form from the Fresh FM website
(www.freshfm.com.au) to be submitted along with their recordings to Fresh FM - 230 Angas Street, Adelaide SA 5000 by COB Friday November 30, 2007.
Finalists will be announced on the Fresh Air program on Fresh FM on Monday 10th of December.
