ChamberMade, Australia’s most prolific and successful producer of contemporary Australian music-theatre is to establish a new initiative to be called the ChamberMade Commissioning Fund. The fund will directly finance the creation of original works by outstanding and emerging Australian composers and writers. Money raised will finance all processes involved, from the development of the score and the libretto, to the world premiere of the work.

“Patrons will be able to attach their names, or that of their organisation, to a particular work, and be credited as such for the life of that work,” says ChamberMade’s General Manager, Geoffrey Williams. “This support represents a gift not only to the artists receiving the commission, but also to future generations of music-theatre audiences and practitioners.”

As Australia's leading development and production house for new Australian music-theatre and music-based cross-art form works, ChamberMade will have commissioned and/or produced 31 Australian works by the end of 2007, 26 of them world premieres. In 2006-7 ChamberMade productions will have been seen in every state in Australia (except W.A.), the Singapore Festival and six cities in the Netherlands. The Company will also have added to the host of international and national awards it has earned over the past nineteen years, the 2007 Green Room Award for Best Opera Production (The Hive) and the 2007 Helpmann Award for Best Opera Direction (Douglas Horton for The Hive).
