The
2007 Melbourne International Arts Festival program was launched last night by the Minister for the Arts,
Lynne Kosky. In the company of Sponsors, VIPs, Stakeholders and Industry guests, Festival Artistic Director,
Kristy Edmunds outlined her third Festival program which features some of the world’s finest contemporary artists from countries such as Austria, Canada, France, Israel, Japan, Korea, Mexico, The Netherlands, Spain, South Africa, USA, UK and Australia.
For 17 days and nights, over 700 international and local artists will converge in Melbourne to perform, exhibit and screen their work in 19 venues throughout the city.
“This year’s program presents artists who have, by definition, changed the possibilities of their artform for all time, and whose individual legacies continue to expand, astound and inspire. Audiences will have direct experience with artists who have attained mastery, or whose fresh contribution is emerging on the international scene.” Edmunds said.

Lynne Kosky said this year’s Festival presented a diverse program of theatre, dance, music and visual arts from groundbreaking international and local artists.
“We want to see as many Victorians as possible participate in this annual celebration of the arts. This program of events, both free and ticketed, ensures that Victorians have the opportunity to experience a range of contemporary art events,” Ms Kosky said.
