Now in its fourth year, Rotary in Australia are proud to present Storm The Stage. The national event is a drama and musical theatre challenge for 16 to 19 year olds. Up to 20 finalists will be chosen to perform in a major production with awards of up to $10,000 to further their education in the arts.

Storm the Stage began in 2004 as a state competition in Western Australia and became a national showcase in 2006. As Storm the Stage grows in strength, appreciation goes to sponsors, volunteers, patrons and the national theatre arts industry. The event provides an opportunity for young people to perform in a unique concept of monologue performances where they are able to experiment and push out the boundaries of their performance and personal development. It enables them to meet their peers from across Australia, allows opportunities for mentoring and to perform and work collaboratively with professionals. Storm the Stage enriches the lives of young people in a caring and nurturing environment and provides self esteem through empowerment and reaching for a goal. Patrons for Storm the Stage are Hugh Jackman and Jill Perryman.

Award winning actor Hugh Jackman has been a patron of Storm the Stage since its inception. Hugh graduated from the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts and has enjoyed international success for his stage appearances as well as his film roles.

Jill Perryman is one of Australia’s most talented and loved performers. Her outstanding skill and versatility crosses all performing art forms and genres, and her ability to entertain and move people draws audiences of all ages, making her an outstanding ambassador for popular theatre and all the performing arts.

Heats will be conducted in all entering Australian states with the National Production to be held on Friday 26 October at the Burswood Entertainment Complex Theatre, with ticket sales opening in August.
