This is a great opportunity to get first hand experience working with one of Australia's most successful literary festivals. Volunteers are needed to assist in the following areas: administrative duties, marketing, staffing the green room and the information desk, ushers and venue assistants, to conduct market research, technical assistants, stage managers and drivers for author transportation.
The volunteers will be required during the festival on a roster basis and some volunteers may be required earlier. The festival would especially like to hear from anyone that is available to volunteer during the week.
'Volunteers are crucial for the success of the festival and this year we need 200 people in a range of volunteer positions', says Rosemary Cameron, Festival Director, Melbourne Writers' Festival. 'I have always found that there is great camaraderie and spirit amongst the volunteers, many forming friendships and we can even boast a romance from last year which is still going strong. Plus volunteers will gain invaluable experience in bringing a festival of this size together'.
