Shiny White DiamondsIt’s dangerous to have three poisonous personalities under the one roof.

Demented Jem spends her days in her dishevelled city apartment conversing with a life-sized dummy. She can’t remember when she made it, she can’t remember why. Heavily medicated and stuck in isolation, her memories continue to erode.

When her long-lost alcoholic twin brother gets dismissed from the army and arrives unannounced at her doorstep, a beautiful young megalomaniac also crashes the scene, and their world falls to the uncanny.

Australian playwright Sarah Doyle (Forest Blue, Megan Mostyn-Brown) is gearing up to workshop her latest play, Shiny White Diamonds, with prestigious New York theatre company Soho Think Tank, at The Ohio Theatre, Wooster St, New York City.

“Shiny White Diamonds explores the lies we tell and happiness we forge in order to keep life meaningful. The workshop will be a great opportunity to open up the text to its theatrical possibilities, particularly because the protagonist is a dummy.”

The workshop will be directed by Awoye Tempo, and consists of three actors and two Le Coq trained puppeteers, culminating in a moved public reading as part of Soho Think Tank’s Sixth Floor Series.
