“Fiddler On The Roof, The Victorian Opera Company, Anthony Warlow as well as Lano and Woodley all have something. They all potentially could ‘get the nod’ when the Green Room Awards Association announce their nominations for the 2006 year of work” says Richard Fitzgerald, General Manager of Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Nominations will be released by the President of the Association, Dr. Mark Williams, Richard Fitzgerald (G.M. Her Majesty’s Theatre) and other members of Melbourne’s theatre community.
A feature of the afternoon will be the announcement of the 2007 Lifetime Achievement recipient, Ms Sue Nattrass AO. Sue has had a long and distinguished career in theatre, including heading The Victorian Arts Centre and producing two Melbourne Festivals but her career began at Her Majesty’s Theatre. As part of the day and in recognition of Sue’s illustrious career at ‘The Maj’ as a stage manager for the big shows, the new stage management office backstage at Her Majesty’s Theatre will be named and dedicated to her.
“Theatre Day is the day when we celebrate all who earn their living from the theatres in the City of Melbourne” says President of the Awards, Dr Mark Williams. “Theatre in Melbourne is alive and well thanks to some great work done last year. HMT housed 28 different productions in 2006 so we are thrilled to support the Green Room Awards, who highlight and reward the talented people that kept our audiences and all of Melbourne entertained last year.”
The Green Room Awards Association Ceremony will take place on Sunday April 1st 2006 at the Fairfax Theatre at the Arts Centre from 1:00pm.
