What's On

Hamlet Camp

Brendan Cowell, Ewen Leslie, and Toby Schmitz – three stars of Australian stage and screen – come together for the first time for the world premiere of Hamlet Camp, a night of poetry, pith and play.

The actors have been mates for years, but they are also bound together as members of a select club of former Princes. Each of them has scaled the Shakespearean summit to go head-to-skull with poor Yorick in the most coveted acting role in the business. This is the kicking off point for an evening of laughs, tears and bewilderment as they consider an actor’s life of friendship, passion, cruelty, glory and chaos.

Through an intimate, self-help slaughterhouse session of soliloquies, swords and sublime word play, they wrestle with the conundrum that being cast in the most sought-after role in the history of theatre is both a blessing and a lifelong curse.
