
Two works, The Red Apple by Jacques Offenbach and Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein are presented in a new show by Lyric Opera of Melbourne.


Legendary lyric soprano Dame Kiri – as she is affectionately known – is currently touring New South Wales with pianist Terrence Dennis, and I had the good fortune to see them perform last Friday night in Chatswood's smart new concert hall, the Concourse.

Homeward Bound is an autobiographical account of Kate McLennan's retreat back to the family home in Geelong after a relationship break up. Her stories of heartbreak and insecurities are easy to relate to, as are the members of her family.

Before seeing the show, I didn't really know what 'genital origami' was. I now feel educated – nay, enlightened.

In Apocatypical the world as we know it is spontaneously destroyed during the middle of a turgid performance of an Elizabethan drama, leaving only one lousy actor and two highly disgruntled audience members alive.

From the outset, Boneshaker is frenetic and fast paced. It is sketch comedy with a manic edge.
