
For a comedy written mid-17th century, Tartuffe 2016 is surprisingly fresh, lively and plenty of fun.

For one night only, Manilla Street Productions has somehow managed to entice a host of musical theatre stars to create some of the magic of Maury Yeston's masterwork for a charity fundraiser.

Antarctica the musical has some very important, relevant information to convey to audiences. It tries to find a place within the genre to get the messages across while being essentially entertaining, and without being too dry or “preachy”.

There is much charm to The Light in the Piazza aided by some beautiful music. Here is a thoughtful piece not just about young love, but also about mothers and families, and the opportunity to grow.

All in all, The Pearl Fishers is an enjoyable ride, and under Michael Gow’s direction, adequately equipped to silence any lingering criticisms of Bizet’s “other opera.”

This was an astonishing concert by two jazz giants. One of those rare occasions when ninety minutes was simply not enough.
