Lyster Opera presents Nicolai's The Merry Wives of Windsor

Fresh from the sellout tour of Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio and Gluck's Orpheus & Eurydice, Lyster Opera returns with this rarely performed and hilarious take on Shakespeare's great comedy, The Merry Wives of Windsor. This brand new production is directed by Daniel Sinfield and features some of Victoria's most dazzling operatic talent. One performance only!

The script is based on a true story, although this dramatisation can feel somewhat contrived, with important assertions not interrogated, and credibility stretched as a result.

This Glass Menagerie is top shelf, and while blessed with an extraordinary cast and the highest of production values, it will not meet with everyone’s measure of how this play should be staged.

There is a lot to love about this show; the cast are strong, and the onstage band who interact in the main diner setting is a fun touch.
