Sweeney Preston: Australia's Worst Journalist

Winner Best Comedy Weekly Award 2024 Perth FRINGE WORLD

★ Sold Out, Extended Season 2024 & 2025 Edinburgh Fringe ★

★ Official Selection SoHo Playhouse NYC International Fringe Encore Series 2025 ★

For three years, comedian-journalist Sweeney Preston wrote dating advice articles while his own love life desperately needed an editor.

Now, Sweeney relives some of the most hilarious contradictions between his own life, and the articles he was writing with a straight face – some of which have been read by over 100,000 people.

This sell-out show by one of Australia's best young writers (Spicks and SpecksThe Last Leg UK) and one of only two comedians in this year's Festival whose show has had a residency on the infamous Las Vegas strip, storms home for a return Melbourne season!

From radio interviews gone awry, to a couple's getaway attended solo, and an ending that will have you questioning every piece of advice you’ve ever been given – this raucous hour is a celebration of mistakes told the only way Sweeney knows how – through jokes, stories and a 100+ slide PowerPoint presentation.

If you're a fan of Everybody Has A Secret, love hate-watching Married At First Sight, binge Sex and the City or if you’ve ever had sex while living in a city – this show is for you.

'Captivating, effortlessly charming and magnetic.' ★★★★½ InDaily

'So skilfully put together you’d never guess it’s a debut.' Australian Arts Review

Return season of the show previously titled Culture Reporter.
