Amplified: The Exquisite Rock And Rage Of Chrissy Amphlett

Belvoir sets the stage ablaze with Amplified: The Exquisite Rock and Rage of Chrissy Amphlett, an electrifying homage to Australian rock icon and Divinyls frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett, from 29th January to 8th February 2026.

Starring beloved Australian performer and writer Sheridan Harbridge (Belvoir’s Stop Girl, Griffin Theatre Co’s Prima Facie, MTC’s My Brilliant Career) alongside an incredible four-piece live band, Amplified is a ‘rock odyssey’ of music, storytelling and unapologetic attitude that blends biography and concert into a red-hot cabaret performance.

Chrissy Amphlett was a seismic force in a school uniform. Now the legendary rebel-queen of Australian rock is reimagined by the prodigiously talented Sheridan Harbridge.

Chrissy had raw talent, stage conquering charisma and a rock’n’roll rasp. Her snarls of sexuality and vulnerability were thrown in your face like a beer in the front bar. Fronting the Divinyls, she shouldered through a blokey crowd, taking the band from the sticky carpets of Australian pubs to dizzying heights of chart success around the world.

Co-created by multi-award-winning director Sarah Goodes (STC’s Julia, The Weekend), the production features musical director Glenn Moorhouse (GWB Entertainment’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch) with lighting design by Paul Jackson (Bliss, Life of Galileo).

Filled with anthemic hits, intimate anecdotes and vivid memories from those who knew her best, this is an unforgettable invitation into the heart of an artist, well ahead of her time.
