L'Hôtel

Welcome to L’Hôtel.

Enter a lobby brimming with bohemian verve and meet the cast of characters who call L’Hôtel home – the crème de la crème of performers from the world of cabaret, burlesque and circus. Follow them behind closed doors and become voyeurs to L’Hôtel’s secrets.

From the creators of Gatsby at the Green Light; L'Hôtel is where cabaret merges with theatre, creating the ultimate evening of food, fashion and entertainment. Come dressed in your finest couture and escape: savour the champagne, graze on a French cheese board and be transported to the Paris of your imagination. This is your chance to be a guest at L’Hôtel.

Following sold out seasons at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2021 and Sydney Opera House in 2022, L'Hôtel returns to seduce Sydney-siders in the romantic world of French intrigue. Check-in to L’Hôtel and book either the VIP Package at a cabaret table or seating on the floor or balcony.

A VIP ticket includes:

- Premium table seating
- A glass of French champagne
- French cheese board and an éclair for dessert
- Table service from the drinks menu

The script is based on a true story, although this dramatisation can feel somewhat contrived, with important assertions not interrogated, and credibility stretched as a result.

To Shakespeare’s text be true is the obvious goal here, and writer, director and actor have each scored.

In the care of Pinchgut Opera’s director, Erin Helyard, this music, formulaic as it indeed is in some respects, sprang off the page into an experience rich in emotions.

Even when individual works did not fully land for me dramaturgically, there is no denying the precision, intelligence and care of the artists creating them.

Unabashedly and unapologetically entertaining, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels delights in its hoax hokum, a whimsical hustle of musical comedy bustle.
