What's On

Sevenfold Theatre Company Inc. presents 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a certified jewel in the wondrous chasm that is Shakespeare's work. The play, set in Athens, follows young lovers escaping to a magical forest where fairies meddle with their affections, causing chaos and disarray. Meanwhile, amateur actors prepare a hilarious play. With mistaken identities and love potions, chaos reigns until the fairies set things right, leading to weddings and joy for all…kind of.

Director Mitchell Wills delves into the enchanting world of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream with a fresh, bohemian-inspired vision. With minimal cuts to the original script, this production remains true to Shakespeare’s text, with a few dynamic changes to bring the narrative into our time. Uniquely incorporating live music and sound, the cast create a live score using an array of instruments, voices, and their own bodies. Carefully crafted acoustic soundscapes create the forest's ambiance, build suspense, and enhance the mood of each scene. Wills praises the extraordinary talent and creativity of his eclectic cast, confident they will breathe new life into this beloved play. This rendition promises a captivating, immersive experience, highlighting the timeless magic of Shakespeare’s work.
