DARLING BOY

Following an acclaimed sold-out extended season at the 2022 Melbourne Fringe Festival, DARLING BOY is coming to Sydney!

Darling Boy feels like he’s failing at his 20’s. He hates the apps, can’t do clubs or casual sex, and feels like a main character in a movie that absolutely no one is paying to see. He’s trying to get over his first love, the memory of which lingers, and there is so much he and his family aren’t talking about.

Hailed by audiences as ‘achingly relatable’, ‘witty and honest’, with a ‘masterful performance’ (★★★★½ The Age) by actor/writer Rupert Bevan, you don’t want to miss this ‘strikingly honest and incredibly poignant’ coming-of-age comedy drama.

SPECIAL BUNDLE: Check out Darling Boy and I Am King/Queen at Flight Path Theatre in a special 2 for $45 DEAL – Apply promo code: FLIGHT45 at checkout

The script is based on a true story, although this dramatisation can feel somewhat contrived, with important assertions not interrogated, and credibility stretched as a result.

This Glass Menagerie is top shelf, and while blessed with an extraordinary cast and the highest of production values, it will not meet with everyone’s measure of how this play should be staged.

In the care of Pinchgut Opera’s director, Erin Helyard, this music, formulaic as it indeed is in some respects, sprang off the page into an experience rich in emotions.
