Stir-fried Science: a science show mixing local scientists and sketch comedy

Are black holes newsworthy? Should menus tell the unvarnished truth?

Three performers play a variety of characters in comic sketches, stand-up, and songs in the latest science comedy show Stir Fried Science from science-based theatre group Dramatis Scientificae who “help working scientists share their experiences and their research, through narrative, theatre and film.”

It is a cornucopia of science, comedy, music and a smidgen of philosophy with guest appearances each night by local scientists from fields ranging from astronomy, physics, psychology, and bioengineering.

The performers are: Michele Conyngham, Patrick Trumper and Alison Carlson.

Local guest scientists include Drs Saoirse Connor Desai, Theo ten Brummelaar, Alessandro Tuniz, and PhD candidate Sing-Young Chen.

Directed by Margie McCrae.

Stir-fried Science is supported by the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (BABS) at UNSW, National Science Week and Inspiring Australia.

While designed for an adult audience, it is family friendly.
