Nothing

Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP) is delighted to present Nothing, a brutal exploration of adolescence and nihilism, at Riverside Theatres from 1st to 10th September 2022.

Pierre-Anthon, in his gospel of teen nihilism, declares that there is no meaning to life.

Determined to prove him wrong, his classmates start to give up things of importance and pile them in a sacrificial “heap of meaning”. Treasures and much-loved things amp up this feverish gang of youths. No one is exempt, nothing is off limits.

The script is based on a true story, although this dramatisation can feel somewhat contrived, with important assertions not interrogated, and credibility stretched as a result.

This Glass Menagerie is top shelf, and while blessed with an extraordinary cast and the highest of production values, it will not meet with everyone’s measure of how this play should be staged.
