What's On

Speaking in Tongues

This masterpiece went on to win the AWGIE for best play before being transformed into the multi AFI award winning hit film Lantana.

After a 6 year hiatus from Sydney, GradCo.Studio invites you to catch one of the countries most loved stories on the stage again.

“Loves not like that. If you love someone, you know it. If you don’t, you know it. I mean, a lot of people kid themselves. A lot of people let love slip into habit. But the truth’s the truth and everybody knows theirs.”

Two couples set out to betray their partners to fill an empty void. A therapist gets stuck and attempts to call the one person she trusts. One long lost lover grapples to come to terms with losing the woman who made him feel special. This gripping drama runs parallel with a mystery, and we meet nine characters searching for meaning and purpose. Do they find it? Or do they find something else?

Andrew Bovell is one of Australia’s foremost playwright’s and this play is considered one of the most challenging.

GradCo.Studio is a small collaborative of graduates who create work for themselves and tell Australian stories as they transition from student to professional actor.

This show is directed by Jake Ludlow, with performances by Elsa Cherlin, Simon Thomson, Josie Waller & Dale William Morgan.

The script is based on a true story, although this dramatisation can feel somewhat contrived, with important assertions not interrogated, and credibility stretched as a result.

This Glass Menagerie is top shelf, and while blessed with an extraordinary cast and the highest of production values, it will not meet with everyone’s measure of how this play should be staged.
