Handspring Puppet Company, the masterminds behind upcoming Brisbane Powerhouse show, Woyzeck on the Highveld, have been rewarded for their genius, winning the 2008 Laurence Olivier Award for Set Design for their work with Rae Smith on the National Theatre Company production of War Horse.

Established in 1976, the Laurence Olivier Awards are the most prestigious awards in London theatre with Set Design being one of the most hotly contested categories.

Handspring Puppet Company designed the large-scale horse puppets that had audiences of War Horse gasping and they bring the same puppetry techniques to Brisbane Powerhouse with Woyzeck on the Highveld in just five weeks time.

This legendary production of Woyzeck on the Highveld was the first collaboration between Handspring Puppet Company and renowned Johannesburg-based artist and film maker, William Kentridge.
