Celebrate 30 years of Australian plays with Playlab Press - A Celebration at the National Play Festival on Saturday 13 February at the Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm, Brisbane.
Featuring live readings from some of Queensland’s finest plays, the Playlab event is set to showcase the incredibly diverse works of Australian playwrights.
Executive Director of Playlab, Kathryn Kelly said the event will be a great opportunity for theatre lovers to show support for new writing.
“Playlab is thrilled to be turning 30. This event is a great opportunity for theatre lovers, actors, emerging playwrights and creative writers to experience the work of some of Australia’s finest playwrights.” Kathryn said.
Under the direction of Fraser Corfield (Artistic Director, Backbone Arts), six established Brisbane actors will present excerpts from four well-loved Queensland plays - The Seven Stages of Grieving by Wesley Enoch and Deborah Mailman, Constance Drinkwater and the Final Days of Somerset by Stephen Carleton, and Eating Ice Cream with your Eyes Closed by David Brown.

Offering dramaturgy, industry advice and support as well as playwright residencies, awards and networking opportunities - Playlab is the only script development agency and printing press in Australia that is dedicated to fostering the development of new theatre works in Australia.
