ENTRIES OPEN FOR SYDNEY SHORT & SWEET 2008 The biggest little play festival in the world is BACK! Entries for Short & Sweet Sydney Jan-Feb 2008 are now open.
Festival Director and award-winning playwright Van Badham has announced the hit festival is seeking:
- WRITERS to submit plays
- DIRECTORS to direct the 140 plays selected
- ACTORS to be in them!
Says Van, herself winner of best script in S+S 2005: "The prizes are great. The experience is amazing. The memories last forever!"
Entries for everyone close 5pm, Sunday 14 OCTOBER 2007 - so would be David Williamsons and David Hares need to get cracking.
FOR WRITERS: The Rules
* The script has to be 10-minutes or less - so no stressing about the second act
* You can write about anything - politics, dating, family, passion, monsters, gout, zombies, religion… the list is endless
* The style is up to you - drama, comedy, tragedy, romance, thriller…
* You don't have to be an experienced writer - absolutely anyone can enter
* The script must not have had a public performance in Sydney (NSW, Australia) before
* Other than the 10-minute form there's no theme for the competition - all we're looking for are the best 90 scripts, no matter whether they are written by seasoned professionals or first time playwrights
Entry is $15 per script. Entry is on a voluntary basis. Plays are assessed anonymously; please do not include your name or address on your script.
All entries submitted to Sydney Short & Sweet 2007 prior to the closing date of the 14 October 2007 are automatically considered for Melbourne Short & Sweet 2009.
