
Antony Hamilton and Alisdair MacIndoe made themselves a dance where they are not in control of what happens on the floor – instead the dance is made by them responding to rhythms made by small boxes tapping pencils.

After three decades of making music, Sinead O’Connor is still firing on all cylinders and seems to be reaching a new peak with her 10th album, creating some soul-feeding, full-bodied music that is a joy to experience.

Dirty Dancing the movie was a small-budget feature that struck a chord with audiences, churned out a hit song, (I've Had) The Time of My Life, and made Patrick Swayze an international sex-symbol. As a film though, it was average.

The audience is never sure in this play within a play that deconstructs itself as it goes along, when the two characters are genuinely present with each other or with us, if ever.

This year's Shen Yun production at Melbourne's Arts Centre was magical, mesmerizing and an enlightening experience.

With a sparkling book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, the show is a lively smorgasbord of colour and movement with many catchy tunes that non-musical lovers will recognise.

CUT SNAKE is loads of fun. Devised by Dan Giovannoni, Amelia Evans and Paige Rattray, in collaboration with the actors, this tale of time travel, fate and friendship is a light-speed mix of clowning, cabaret and acrobatics. And its energy is irresistible.
