The Engineer in the Snow

Erotic fantasy dissolves into a fugue state in this new theatre work by Sandra Fiona Long premiering at Theatre Works this December.

Inspired by adult animation, and riffing off trashy romance literature, The Engineer in the Snow will lead you on an erotic quest to save planet earth.

Told through the imagination of one woman, performed by Emily Tomlins, The Engineer in the Snow is a poetic journey crossing exquisite aural and visual landscapes. Here the ultimate fantasy is to feel the vulnerability and pain of the planet, and the potential of its renewal. But this fantasy is continually thwarted by the grasp of capitalism, aided by a stream of professionals who promise in different ways to help save planet Earth. More than a fantasy, The Engineer in the Snow is a fugue state where hope collides with anxiety, conjured by the interactive sound and visual design by Darius Kedros and Indonesian artist Deden Bulqini.

Join us in the summer snow.  Be plunged into visions of global economic disparity and environmental destruction. And celebrate the power of the imagination to achieve anything.

Suitable for ages 15+. Contains explicit sexual references, environment destruction, and references to mental health challenges
