Snatches: Moments from 100 Years of Women’s Lives

Bear witness to a century of struggle for progress and equality for women.

Award-winning Mockingbird Theatre Company proudly announces a new initiative - Mockingbird Too: Theatre That Dares.

Showcasing more theatrically challenging and provocative plays from around the world, Mockingbird Too is excited to present as its first production Snatches: Moments from 100 Years of Women’s Lives.

Directed and designed by Céline Oudin.

Commissioned by the BBC to mark the centenary of women’s suffrage in the United Kingdom and curated by Royal Court Artistic Director, Vicky Featherstone.

Moving, funny, tragic and empowering, these gripping monologues address the constant efforts of women to carve out their rights both in domestic and public spheres – from the criminalisation of marital rape to the first Reclaim the Night march – proclaiming a history of perseverance and resilience shown by women’s rights activists.Directed by Céline Oudin (8 Women) and featuring some of the best emerging actresses in Canberra, Snatches is inspired by ordinary women who have spoken out, challenged the status quo or made a stand, often at great personal cost. Although set in England, its themes are universal and speak to us all. This evening is set to inspire, stimulate and challenge.
