Acclaimed actress Annie Lee (The Kransky Sisters) premieres her one-woman comedy, inspired by her life growing up in a fundamentalist religion. It's a topsy-turvy ride on the merry-go-round of faith, where one is often trampled by the carousel horses. Banned from sex education class at junior high school, Annie was cautiously handed a picture book by her mother on the reproductive system. It was to mark the beginning of a life of sin and rebellion. At seventeen she was ousted from the family home for being a heathen, and she went in search of greener pastures. Annie was on the next plane to Sydney and checked into a hotel in Kings Cross. From wacky stories of growing up in a small beachside town in a religious community in Tasmania, to her portrayal of those who live by the manner of faith, Annie takes us on an off-the-wall journey through a quagmire of ideologies in a fraught search for the meaning of life. “A spellbinding performer” Scene Magazine “Four hundred years ago Lee would have been burnt as a witch, as she has an eerie capacity to entrap her audience with a baleful glance and a twist of the voice.” Courier Mail “Lee is an accomplished actor as well as a superb singer and the combination of the two talents makes her a spell binding performer.” Scene Magazine Event detailsVenue: The Butterfly Club, Carson Place Melbourne Bookings: 03 9663 8107 / This email address is being protected from spambots.
