It’s always a very confronting experience when you watch a performer pour their very soul into their work, and at the same time endearing, as they draw you into their mind, their heart and their story.

In the world premiere of writing team Loclan Mackenzie-Spencer and Andrew Strano’s original compositions, Nailed it! is a raw and honest account of how life isn’t always exactly as we had planned, and how significant failure can be in our success.

Essentially a platform for the writing duo to show off their work of the past few months, the show is presented as a concert, with the sequined Strano front and center giving his all throughout the musical theatre styled compositions.

Nailed it! is not your classic cabaret, there are no silly props, no hammy acting, and barely even a dick joke throughout the hour-long show. It is a stripped back and beautiful account of grief, love, insecurity, selfishness and hope. Mackenzie-Spencer and Strano have created some incredibly beautiful music that will stay with you long after the curtain has closed.

Funny, sweet and a little bit weird, Nailed it! is beautifully written and performed with quiet contemplation rather than the usual razzle dazzle. A wonderful production, see this show before the duo is whisked off to New York to take over Broadway!
