2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival may have just finished, but budding artists with an idea for next year’s festival can apply for JUMP, the Australia Council’s National Mentoring Program for Young and Emerging Artists, and start the ball rolling.
But they need to be quick as applications close on October 28th.
The Melbourne Fringe is the Melbourne State Delivery partner for JUMP, which offers artists the opportunity to form a mentoring relationship with a professional artist of their choice, and join a diverse national network of program participants and alumni working in the arts industry.
JUMP artist success stories are growing by the day…. 2011 JUMP artist Joceline Lee mounted her first solo exhibition ‘Rendered Bones’ at this year’s festival and won the award for Best Visual Arts, and former JUMP artists are currently touring interstate and overseas. Pete Reid just took his show ‘Helmsman Pete’ to Edinburgh and now into the Melbourne Fringe, Tristan Meecham remounted ‘Fun Run’ (where he runs a 42km marathon) in Darwin Festival and Mia Stanford took her show ‘Unclassifiable’ to the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Darwin Festival and now Melbourne Fringe Festival.
