SupergirlyThe words “larger than life” aren’t quite enough to sum up the powerhouse that is Supergirly aka Lulu McClatchy.

The popette; who takes on the likes of Katy Perry, Pink, and Lady Gaga turns the music industry upside down as she parody’s today’s music icons leaving no pop star safe from her killer vocal interpretations. Wowing the audience with her razor sharp wit, Lulu’s hecklers were forced into submission by the big, brash and belted vocals of the wannabe pop diva. Lulu’s comedic repertoire included “Australian Gurlz”, a hilarious take on Miss Perry’s “California Gurlz” as well as crowd favorite “Sober” originally sung by the less than sober Pink.

Well known home and abroad, Lulu has appeared before the queen of pop himself, Sir Elton John who personally requested Supergirly to join him on his Australia tour in 2002. With the blessing of pop royalty, Lulu’s whip cracking wit, gorgeous stage presence and comedic timing is an absolute treat and it is easy to see why she is so beloved amongst the Edinburgh and Montreal festival set. The actress, comedienne, singer and writer is highly regarded amongst the celebrity set of Madonna, Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas and Fergie (Duchess of York) and is a party favorite.

Back in Oz to stretch her vocal chords, Lulu is bringing her homegrown humor to local audiences and they are lapping it up. Performing at the brand spanking new Alma’s Downstairs in Caulfield North, this is cabaret as it should be: smart, funny and at times a little bit too intimate.

For those who have not yet experienced the magic that is Supergirly – find her. It shouldn’t be too hard, she’ll be the one dressed in a Gaga-esque outfit complete with Victoria Secret angel wings and Katy Perry’s blue wig shouting barbs to the audience. A bit of a guilty pleasure, Supergirly is an over the top interpretation of today’s princesses of pop. The gorgeous talent that is Lulu McClatchy will have you laughing and singing along in the aisles, and will change the way you listen to pop music forever.
