Melbourne Fringe invites young and emerging Victorian artists to apply for the 2011 JUMP national mentoring program as applications now open.

Funded by the Australia Council for the Arts, JUMP identifies and promotes excellence in artistic practice amongst artists aged 18 - 30 who are in the first five years of their professional practice.

JUMP supports artists in developing a one-on-one relationship with an industry leader of their choice, working with them on a funded creative project. The program also provides access to national industry networks, online profiling and professional development opportunities.

Melbourne Fringe is one of four state delivery partners involved in the JUMP program providing valuable support for young artists in responding to their local needs.

Melbourne Fringe (www.melbournefringe.com.au) is Victoria's leading organisation and resource for the independent arts. It is constantly evolving to meet the current needs of this community and provides the best possible support, professional development, advocacy and presentation opportunities.

"We are thrilled to be extending our support of Victorian artists through this national program which focuses on excellence and diversity," said Esther Anatolitis, General Manager (CEO) of Melbourne Fringe. "JUMP offers us a broader scope for artist development to the benefit of our extraordinary young, independent artists."

Building on the success of JUMP's inaugural 2010 program, up to 50 mentorships are available nationally in 2011, making JUMP Australia's largest artist mentoring program.

Applications for the 2011 JUMP program close 22 October 2010.
