The Board is seeking an inspirational and energetic new Managing Director to continue the evolution of artistic and commercial development and take the MSO into a new era of innovation and international success.

A Selection Committee, headed by MSO Deputy Chairman Justice Alan Goldberg, has been convened to oversee and facilitate the recruitment process. “The Committee is responsible for interviewing applicants and making recommendations to the MSO Board”, said Harold Mitchell.
The MSO has engaged an international search firm, AEM International to coordinate the recruitment process. AEM have successfully sourced senior candidates for organisations such as the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Edinburgh International Festival; Hallé Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra.
The position will be advertised nationally and internationally from May 2. Shortlisted candidate recommendations will be forwarded to the MSO Board for consideration by September.
It is anticipated the MSO Board will make a public announcement confirming the new Managing Director by October 2009.
Subject to negotiations, it is expected the new Managing Director will commence around March 2010.
