On Friday the 2008 Youth and Education Program (YEP) Guide was launched at Adelaide High School by Graham Cox, Policy & Program Officer, Department of Education and Children’s Services (DECS) and Fringe Director, Christie Anthoney.
This year in consideration of the 16th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Young People to be held in Adelaide in May 2008, the Adelaide Fringe has only chosen works which can tour into schools directly.
The 2008 YEP in-schools program is chock-a-block full of shows, events and workshops that can be packed into a van and delivered straight to any school’s classroom, gym, library or other suitable space. There are shows and workshops for all ages and opportunities for regional schools to get involved.
“We trust these unique Adelaide Fringe presentations will go a long way in providing a clever spin on ways to engage your students with parts of the curriculum, whilst giving them a fulfilling, uplifting creative experience,” says Christie Anthoney, Fringe Director.
“As a former teacher, I know how difficult it can be to expose students to live arts events. This program provides teachers with a wide variety of events that promise to excite, inspire, educate and, of course, entertain! Best of all, they come to you!” says Glen Christie, YEP Coordinator.
As always, there will also be a variety of very exciting Main Program opportunities for students - check out the Fringe Guide in January to find out more.
