You think opera isn’t for you?
Well, think again! This new production by Pacific Opera, is performed by a fresh cast of Australia’s finest young operatic voices and is sure to resonate with younger audiences who may not normally go to the opera.
“Pacific Opera’s philosophy is to create a place for emerging talent, curious audiences and creative freedom to meet,” said Artistic Director Christine Douglas. “It’s a fantastic way to open up the art form to young audiences interested in opera and theatre whilst giving the classics, such as The Barber of Seville, a new lease on life.”
Set in the gated community of Seville in LA, Figaro, hairdresser and barber to the stars, helps young heiress, Rosina to hook up with an Aussie superstar and rebel against her guardian, Dr. Bartolo. Rossini’s most popular opera is sung in English.
