Announcing the next exciting (and spectacular) step in the rise and rise of  Short & Sweet: a festival of fresh, new, short dance works!

Following the successful model of Short and Sweet - which has become in a few short years the biggest little play festival in the world – Short, Sweet & Dance is an opportunity for established and emerging choreographers & dancers to combine their creative talents and present new 10 minute dance works!

Dance creators will unite throughout October at the Newtown Theatre, as they become involved with the newest, most exciting off-shoot of the hugely successful Short & Sweet Festival.

Festival Director, Olivia Ansell, insists that there are no boundaries for the style of dance work, so long as they possess a strong concept and clear choreographic intent.

“Basically, we are seeking a diverse range of dance works that will showcase a many choreographic styles - the only limitation is that each piece must be ten minutes or less.”

In keeping with the Short and Sweet manifesto, participants of Short Sweet & Dance, are eligible for sponsored awards such as Best Male Dancer, Best Female Dancer, Best Choreographer, and Best New Talent.

As part of the inaugural  season, Short, Sweet & Dance will deliver 20 innovative short works over a two week season and performed at the newly refurbished Newtown Theatre.

S,S&D pays homage to its predecessor - Bodies Dance Festival which will reincarnate as a slick new model, revealing and celebrating the diversity of Australia's artistic talent within the field of Dance.

Executive Producer Mark Cleary, believes Short, Sweet & Dance provides choreographers with a launch pad to expose their work to industry professionals and a growing dance audience.
